Nothing much to say today

I am at work. I am bored. I am so glad I am off this weekend. I have nothing too exciting planned. There will be a Goonies party at the T and the J's place. Trav has never seen it (and he owns it). So, since in our group, it is a crime against humanity to never have seen it ( or Groundhog Day and The Big Lebowski) we figured it time we force him to watch it.

There isn't much else going on. Valentine's Day is coming up. (Is it Valentine's or just Valentine?) Anyway, I am sure my and the Jodster will be having a romantic night out. I wonder what he will get me? I have some plans for him which include a tattoo. Well, that is if it isn't too too too expensive. We ain't broke, but we sure ain't rich! Anyway, he has wanted one for sometime, so I am aim to please that man o'mine. I am sure we will have a good time. We did last year. He is good with the romantic junk. And he doesn't even seem to mind it. And being as I have never had any sort of romance at all before this man...well, I sure am appreciative of it (albeit a bit dense of what is going on when it happens).

But, back to this weekend. I plan on doing nothing! Tomorrow, I want to sit. Sunday, I want to sit. I probably won't, but I want to. Actually, does it count as having Friday off when officially I don't really get home from work until about 8:00 in the morning on Friday? Well, probably not. But, I am counting it anyway.

I have a paper to write for one class and a story to write for another. I am completely unmotivated, as usual. But, I will get on the ball soon (or as I like to call it, the night before each is due).

Wow, this is boring. So, I am going to stop.

25 Useless Pieces of Information About Laura Ferguson (as seen on Facebook)

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you it's because I want to know more about you.

1. I am a vegetarian. I think people find it hard to believe there are fat vegetarians. There are. I am one of them. I have been a vegetarian for 5 years. I do eat some fish on occasion because everyone needs sushi (okay, and a Whatacatch). It has nothing to do with the animals. I could care less. I boycott the meat/chicken industry. Read Fast Food Nation, and you too shall become a vegetarian. You think I lie. I do not.

2. I am almost finished with my masters degree in creative writing. I don't think people know I write. So, I am sure me having an advanced degree in it will be surprising.

3. I can't set timers on microwaves, my alarm clock- anything that a time can be set on- to a normal number. I have to set it for like 3:22 or 94 seconds. I can't do round numbers. Nothing that ends in a 0 or 5. I just can't. It freaks me out. If it so happens that something is set like that, I reset it. It is a compulsion.

4. I love my birthday. It is March 14. That's pi or 3.14! I point it out on everything. If it is 3:14, I point it out. If I see 314 in a phone number, I point it out. I love my birthday!! I will probably announce it to everyone starting the week before. Did I mention it is March 14?

5. On birthdays, I believe your birthday is your own national holiday. You shouldn't have to work, go to school, clean, cook, do anything. I think everyone should celebrate. I think we should all have celebrations as big as Jesus on his birthday.

6. I make terrible comments about Jesus and God and religion all the time. In fact, I make terrible comments about everything all the time. I don't get offended by much. I really don't. So, I have a hard time remembering that other people do. So, I just say things. It throws me that people get offended. I am really the worst with Jesus and sex. And if you know me, you know how hard it is for me not to make a really tacky comment right here!

7. I have never had lobster. I really want to try it.

8. I work 12 hour night shifts 3 or 4 days a week. This causes a really weird schedule for the rest of the week. It is probably why no one ever hears from me during the day and all the comments on your pages are done at night.

9. My favorite show of all times is Roseanne. I can pretty much recite the entire series. I feel like those are my actual family members. I know them better than I know anyone in my family.

10. I think I have a slight case of Tourette Syndrome. I randomly have urges to scream or wiggle my fingers. I can only believe it is a slight case of Tourette Syndrome.

11. I make up stupid songs and sing them all the time. I was once told I live my life as a musical. I do.

12. I remember my dreams. I remember most of them for long periods of time. In fact, I remember dreams I had when I was a little bitty kid. I have tons of dreams bouncing around in my head. For some reason they just stick with me. Last nights involved Jody locking a horse in a bathroom then driving away. I can go into great detail if you need to know more.

13. I love Lost. I am a Lost nerd. Please feel free to email me to discuss it if you want.

14. Is stopped biting my nails when I was 18 only to start biting my cuticles. I do it all the time. I am sure it is disgusting. Well, I know it is. But, I don't even realize I am doing it.

15. I have trained myself not to do my natural laugh which is a honk/snort type thing. Some have heard it. Most have not. Long ago I made sure it never came out. On occasion it does. If you hear it, you are actually funny.

16. I like tomatoes in stuff and on stuff, but I do not like them alone or in salads, except that tomatoe, basil, mozzarella salad. That stuff is good as hell.

17. My real dream in life is to be on Saturday Night Live or a stand-up comedian.

18. I don't like hot fruit. I can't stand it! It is the worst thing put on the earth - cooked fruit. Fruit should stay as fruit is. This means I hate hate hate fruit pies, cobbler, and anything hot fruit is involved in. Nothing makes me want to puke like the thought of peach cobbler. Ugh! I don't mind a muffin or banana bread. But big hunks of hot fruit! Oh, and don't get me started on putting that crap in oatmeal or breakfast things. No no no! Yuck yuck yuck. I got the shivers just thinking about it right now.

19. I am deathly afraid of heights. I don't want to so much as stand on a chair. Second wrung of a ladder is high enough for me. I am cool on planes and roller coasters because I am strapped in. But, I hate the rest of it.

20. I once tried out for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I didn't make it.

21. I have a thing for Go Go Boots. I love them. I have a few pairs. My red ones are my favorite. There are a pink pair and a purple pair that I really need to go buy. I don't wear them so much because I have nowhere to wear them (and they make me 6'2). But, I love them none-the-less.

22. Until my current boyfriend (who has been my boyfriend for some time now), I had never spooned. And it is wonderful. I didn't know I could sleep so peacefully with someone hugging up on me. Now it is hard to sleep without him wrapped around me. Wait, that sounds corny as hell. What a fruity comment! But, it's true, so I am leaving it.

23. I read Craigslist obsessively. I read it all. Rants and Raves, Free section, Casual Encounters (totally read this because it is super entertaining) message boards, jobs, real estate. It's a pretty fierce addiction. I can't figure out what I did before Craigslist. Was there life before Craigslist? I am sure there was, but it was too boring to remember.

24. No matter where I am or what I am doing, I am going to drop something down my shirt. If I take only one bite of food, half of it will end up on my shirt. Actually, it will end up on my boobs. They are what I call my shelf. Nothing gets past them. But, I will drop something on them. I always do. Always.

25. I once stayed up for an entire weekend and watched the first three seasons of The Real World. I didn't sleep the entire time. Don't judge. It was before it got terrible. I would have held out for the fourth season had my body allowed it.

Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting

Or for being bored as hell! I am at work. What a super fun way to spend a weekend. My people are out there, having fun, being super awesome, and what have you. Here I sit at work. Booooo! Stink!!!!!

I don't have much to report anyway. Nothing fancy happened this weeks. Jody, Trav, Jacob, and I went to dinner at Mandola's yesterday. We had a yummy meal and fancy desert. It was a nice night. Good talking, good laughs, and Jody spilled a Dr. Pepper all over the table. Luckily, the tables are small and we had filled it up with plates and cups and all kinds of crap. So, really it just pooled in the middle.

We headed back over to the T and J for a hangout and game of Catan (the nerdiest game since Dungeons and Dragons ever invented). I won because I fucking rule!! It was a bunch of fun.

Then it was back home for me and the Jodster for some Beatles Anthology viewing and good loving. Yep, it takes just a little Beatles to get us both going. Actually, all it takes is sitting next to each other. Or actually the thought of each other that can do it. But, last night, I am blaming the Beatles! Thank the lord for the fucking Beatles! HaHa! Of course, I should give Jody a hand, too. Gosh, he's awesome!

In exciting news, we are getting a puppy! A lab. I have no idea if it will be a girl or a boy, but we are sure excited! A puppy! I can't wait. I know Jody is excited. We have been meaning to get another dog for a bit. I mean, we have the Schneider, but that is more of a stepchild to Jody. And, I think it will be nice for Schneider to have a new something to play with other than me and Jody. We will probably go pick it up tomorrow or the next day. So, I will keep you updated on how the heck that is going. Yay, new doggy!

I did start school again next week. Yep, there's that again. It is good to get the brain going. But, I really am ready to be done. This semester should be a fun one. I have my advanced fiction writing class. I love that class. I loved the previous class. Since my degree will overall be focused on creative writing, I guess I should! It will be an English degree so I can teach English. But, I am focusing on creative writing. In other words, I am again getting a degree that may or may not cause me to have a better paying job at the end of it. But, it has been an adventure. And I love it. So, what can I say. I hope that sticking with something long enough to get a masters will show people I can put up with a lot of crap for a long assed time! Then it is on to the PhD. I plan to take Dr. Laura back to the side of good!

I will say that in the future-if I have children-I will tell them to do something in college that has a job at the end, i.e. doctor, nurse, lawyer, dentist, teacher...These floaty degrees can be a bitch! Haha! But, I sure am glad I am getting something.

Well, I have blathered on for a while now. Nothing too fancy. Nothing to blah. I am going to miss Goonies night with the gang tomorrow because I have to work again. Boooo! But, alas, I am getting paid, so I shall be here. Damn my work ethic!

I am off to do what I do best, work work work. Wait, that isn't what I do best. I am pretty good at a couple of things...just ask Jody. Lord, what is wrong with me tonight? Well, it's what's wrong with me everyday-I am a sicko pervert. But, in public I try to hold it in. Well, that's a lie. But, I am trying to be a lady. Haha!

Alright, I am off! Yehaw. Back to work!

Today is a really cool day

I am quite excited about today. I watched the inauguration stuff all morning. I have watched more inauguration stuff this evening. It's a new world today. And I am really excited about it. It's nice to have hope and not think that your country is just in ruins and uncaring. Today is a good day.

Shag

I watched the movie Shagyesterday. I haven't seen it in probably 15 years. I used to watch it all the time. It was "the most fun." I Netflixed it. And, I can't believe how much I still loved it and still knew all the words to it. Watch it!

Have you been Yacht Rocked?

This can cure a bad mood, PMS, terrorism, racism, forced donkey basketball, ingrown toenails, and meningitis. There is a series of them. This is part one. Watch them all if you dare...(you can skip the Jethro Tull one. I hate Jethro Tull!)

A question I have pondered...

Do you think with the invention of Photoshop and the like that the Stencil Industry is suffering?

Life as I have known it for the past few weeks!

***QUICK NOTE***I have gone and done some retarded posting. So, the pictures are all half pictures. So, if you want to see the whole thing, just click on it. It will take you to my Photobucket page. Lot's of stuff going on there. But, I have no desire to go fix the pictures, so they are staying half pictures. Sorry!***

Guess what? Chicken Butt! Haha. Just kidding. That guess what was for real. If you said what, then I will answer. If you didn't, will have no idea, but will answer anyway! I am back home. I am no longer a vagabond, a hobo, a derelict. Well, I guess I wasn't that at all. It just felt that way.

You see, Jody and I had to be out of our house due to super horrible plumbing problems. Or, our sewer line was completely smashed. This happened long before we moved in, but it didn't rear its ugly head a couple of months ago. So, now water or electricity = the Suarez-Fergusons had to move the hell out. So, we hoteled it up (which sucked because Jody had a serious case of the flu and got into a car wreck where someone hit him and drove off. Super awesome!), then camped out with the most wonderful friends on Earth! They disrupted their normal people schedule to host two duds and a dog with weird musician and night worker schedules. Oh, how patient they are. And what a pair. I love them dearly. I do. I don't think they have any idea how much.

But, now we are home. We were supposed to be in another hotel until Monday. We came to the house on Thursday to pick up some fresh clothes and for me to get some bathroom stuff that I needed (ya know, q-tips, more shampoo, tweezers for my every growing eyebrows) crap that sucks not having on hand even though you have it on hand, only it is at your house in your bathroom drawer. Anyway, the plumbers where there doing something, and Jody went to check on the progress. And lo and behold, they said they were done (except for filling in the hole that could accommodate two grown men underneath our house).

So, unexpectedly, we got to stay in our house. Sure, there isn't a single grocery in the house (I mean, what can you keep with no fridge), our living room looks like a tornado hit it because we have just been depositing stuff there (Christmas stuff, dirty clothes, my childhood that my father dropped off about two days before we had to go, just crap in general) for three weeks. But, we didn't care. We cuddled up and watched TV on our couch or in our bed (among other things, haha) all day and night. We only got up to let the dog out or answer the door for the pizza guy. It was incredible! I missed our place so much! And our shower!!! We have amazing water pressure in the shower, and boy have I missed it!

But, we are home sweet home. And I am thrilled about it. Thankfully, Jody's mom works for a large hotel chain, and she got us a discount. You know how awesome it is to stay in a hotel for $50 less a night than it is supposed to cost? It still gets pricey after eleven days, but it was super doable. And free continental breakfast. Hard boiled eggs, bagels, yogurt, and cereal are quite continental! Anyway, it was so nice of her!

So, that's that. What else has gone on? Oh, Christmas!

***I am interrupting this blog to ponder something. Ponder with me, will you.***

I am at work and taking a lunch break. I just put my microwave dinner in the microwave. The instructions for it include:

(this is verbatim)

2. Place wax paper loosely over tray.

First, who in the world has wax paper now-a-days? Are we in 1944? Am I baking? No! And second, why would you make a microwave meal that you need wax paper for? My office supplies coffee, creamer, sugar, pens, folders, a chair, a desk, a computer, but no wax paper. What kind of company is this? Seriously, wax paper? Are they kidding?

***Done with that rant. Back to my other rants!***

Christmas! I had such a good time at Christmas. Jody got to meet the family. All of them. Even some that I haven't seen in 25 years -for real. It was a very quick Christmas. Got to Houston on December 24th for my Dad's side Christmas. Then to Mom's that night. Then home on the 26th. See, quick. But, in that, I got to see where my mom works (she does good things for poor people), meet a couple of her neighbors, saw my ex-step sister and her boyfriend, played Pictionary Man (I highly recommend it), opened some gifts, ate too much, took tons of stuff home, and learned that MREs are not very good (poor military people).

Here are some pictures:

This is Tam and I at my Aunt's on the 24th. I am the house next to that normal sized girl.

Photobucket

Here's me and my dad. Can you tell we are related? I think he has shrunk. I mean, he's still tall. I am about 6', so you see how tall he is. But, he isn't nearly as tall as he used to be. Maybe one day I will be 5'5!!

Photobucket

This is Jody and me laughing about something. Don't you love his new Christmas sweater? He is so cute!

Photobucket

Here is the whole lot of us. Me, Dad, Tamaramadingdong, and Brenda (my stepmom). Aren't we so happy and Christmasy and pretty? Sha!

Photobucket

Here are Mom and Tam Tam playing Pictionary Man. Mind you, my team (Me, Jody, and Matt) won! Hell, yeah! We rule!

The Jodster making our team Pictionary Man champions!!!

After that was New Year's Eve. I worked. Booooo. It's fine because I got paid for a holiday, so I didn't mind too much. Jody came to work and visited me. My office overlooks Lady Bird Lake and Auditorium Shores. So, we had a nice seat for fireworks. In fact, we saw all kinds of fireworks displays! Lot of far away ones. I wonder who was doing them?

Then came the Isle of Lost Toys. This year, I was sans Jody because he had a show. It wasn't an LBE show (seems my Jody is in a whole lotta bands these days), so I didn't go. He didn't mind. I have only missed one LBE show, and I still feel bad about that. But the band he played with that night is no biggie. I have seen him play with them, and I probably will again. But, it isn't his band band.

Anyway, Isle of Lost Toys. It was so fun. The lame gift (we all bring the lamest gift we got or some sort of white elephant gift) wasn't that lame. I got these tiki looking masks from Kristy and Koley. They used to hang on there wall, and I liked them. So , I am good with them. There were a couple of stink pot gifts, but some were so cool!

Here are some pictures:

Photobucket

Leah got a fine, fine soccer movie starring Pele and Sylvester Stallone. I don't know how Paul was able to part with it. I do believe it was the most awesome gift of the evening!

Photobucket

Kate got a Boccie Ball set that was missing the snitch (snatch in our language and a ball. They were stolen mid game on the beach in Port Aransas. And even the keen, yet drunken skills of Koley and Leah could not find the thief. I think Jody and I were winning that game).

Photobucket

Kristy got a lanyard. Wonder who gave that to her?

Photobucket

Maria got some Leslie magnets. That's a good gift!

Photobucket

Jenn got some awesome drum thingy. I was going to steal it, but I figured with the drum kit and electric drums that I have in my house, I didn't need more drums. I don't play Jody's near enough (although he does give me lessons) to steal these from Jenn.

Photobucket

Tina got a very nice book about some Biological science that was so complicated I couldn't even pronounce it to begin with. There is a glare over the title, or else I would be able to tell you what it was. It was Kate's, so it is a PhD in Microbiology or Biochemistry level book. Being as I am getting a masters in creative writing, we all know that I have no idea about any of that kind of science. Oh, and she got a nice candle!

And not to be forgotten...

Photobucket

Paul got Bryce (and a purse which he is holding)! He will be spending the next year with Kate and Paul. I have seen him sitting high on his shelf. He will be happy there until next year!

Okay, that is sure enough of me for a long while. Nothing much else is going on. My office is moving on Monday to the Children's Hospital! Hurray, as it is only about 4 minutes from my house! Okay, now nothing at all. But, I shall update again soon. Well, I say that, but I am unreliable.

I have much to post!

But, I am busy as hell tonight! Ugh!

I have to go into more detail about everything in the past couple of weeks. Let's see...Christmas, New Year's, homelessness (kinda), babies, life in general. Ugh, so much has gone on. But alas, no time! I shall return momentarily with a plethora of information and pictures. Well, maybe pictures. Having no home means having no access to your computer that isn't a laptop. Boo my broken laptop. But, thank goodness for the Mac!

Anyway, all in due time!

In the meantime, watch my new obsession (well, kinda old now)...
