There is no basement in the Alamo

What a weekend I have had so far. Oh, boy, it has been exciting. Actually, it hasn't been so bad. Sure, I am at work on a Saturday night. But I had a pretty good day and last night.

Last night, I became the East Austin Monopoly Champion. Okay, not really. But, I did win Monopoly! I played some mighty opponents-Travis and Jacob. And I won!!! Yehaw! Jacob went out first, as you will see here by his three dollars!

He just happened to land on the taxes box, and is trying to figure out what 10% of his stuff is, as opposed to paying $200. It was way less then $200. So, I do believe that took him out!

Trav and I played on. Oh, it was a grueling game. But, in the end, I reined victorious! Wanna see my wad of cash? Sure you do! By the way, I had all the $100 bills in the game. Yep, all of them. Then the gamed owed me, so I traded them in for $500 bills. That's how much I ruled that bitch!

Look at that! I threw that Jacob picture in there one more time just to remind him who won that damn game! ME!!!! I'm not a bad winner or anything. Not at all. I will not throw it in your face that I won the mother fucker! Yehaw! Heck, you think this is bad, you should see when I lose. I am not a game thrower (I have had a Monopoly game thrown more than once. And one of you who is probably reading this is one of the culprits! Hehe!), but I am a sore loser.

All in all, a great Friday night (even though it wasn't spent at the soccer game where it was supposed to be spent. Money and Planes. Fuckers.)

Today started out pretty cool. My friend Ryan got married to a fabulous girl named Emily. I have hung out with her from time to time, but she is in school in H-town (I can't believe I wrote that), so she isn't around to hang out as much. But she's super great. And she's a hula dancer and ballerina (on top of being a scientist which I think is rad). But, they got hitched this morning.

It was a beautiful wedding. And it was in a church! Do you know how long it has been since I was in a church? Like 15 years or so. It was really weird. The place didn't catch fire when I walked in. And, I kept the god damns to a minimum. Well, I think I did. I tried. Generally, I don't catch it. I was on the lookout this morning, though. It was a gorgeous wedding! Emily look beautiful. Ryan looked awesome in his seersucker suit. Everything was just so pretty and weddingy.

Luckily, I didn't cry. There were far to many prayers for me to cry. Just about the time I was about to get to bawling, here came some stupid prayer or hymn. Jesus crap always just sends me to annoyance land, so that knocked the crying-girl-at-a-wedding out of me.

But, don't they look pretty.

Yes, the pictures suck. But, I was far back and using my phone because our camera is roaming somewhere in Hamburg, Germany. So, I just got some phone pictures. Ignore the other Emily who is sitting in front of me. Well, don't ignore her because she's cool. But, for pictures sake, just look at the other Emily and Ryan.

After that, we went to the reception which was at the Driskill Hotel. It was fab! The Driskill is this old, historic hotel on 6th street (well, I guess if it is historic, it is old. Duh!). I have never actually set foot in it because I am white trash, and it's a damn fancy place.

This reception was incredible! There was an open bar! Of course, I had to work tonight, so I limited myself to a mimosa. Just the one lonely mimosa. They had champagne, and I love the hell out of that. But, you know, work ethic and not being here half drunk is a good thing.

They had neat horse do overs or oer douvres as the fancy people like to call them. People walking around with trays! It was so cool. Then we sat down to a fancy assed meal. I had the wild mushroom risotto with a mushroom, asparagus puff pastry. It was so damn good. The meat eaters actually had filet mignon and shrimp. It was tremendously yummy. And, the cake. Holy cow, the cake!

I danced a little with my boys because my boy is still out there making the world a better place with music. (And visiting the coolest spot ever! The place where Pee Wee and the dinosaurs happened.)

Anyway, that had nothing to do with the reception, but I'm hot for him. So, I will force you to look at him!

We had a great time. I wish we didn't have to leave. Well, it was over. And though I am missing the night festivities at the Broken Spoke, it was overall a great day.

I'd rather be watching Judge Judy

My blog has gone stale! It's boring. I have no idea what to do to pep it up a bit. I would think maybe getting some sort of life would do it. But, alas, who has time for that? Not I. But, that would probably do it. Not much going on in life. Jody is back out on the road. That's sucky, but pretty neat for him. I have had super bad electronic and electrical stuff karma. Serious bad luck with it! But, we have now a new dishwasher, new wiring in the house, and another new laptop (because the one I just bought had a hard drive that went shitty in a record 9 days!!!). We now need a dryer because ours has gone out. That's no surprise since it looks to be from about 1977. But, that being said, we still need to get another one. Boooo! But, at least all the rest of the stuff is working (not that the electrical issues are City of Austin related, not my poor old house related.)

Oh, and never buy a Compaq or Hewlett-Packard computer. The computers suck (which I have heard, but I went against my better judgment), and the customer service and tech support are so ridiculous that I almost couldn't comprehend it. Really, ridiculous. As in, take apart your computer yourself, then take it to a Radio Shack to have them make sure you took it apart correctly, then send it to HP to have it tested, then get it back still taken apart, then call them with the diagnosis, then they send you the new parts, and you put it back together! All this should only take 9 to 21 days without shipping time which will be another 9 to 21 days. Then, if that doesn't work, you can send the product back in (the same way you did before), but this time they will fix it. Of course, you have to pay for labor. Oh, and that again will take 9 to 21 days without shipping time which again is 9 to 21 days. So, all in all, you might have your computer back in about 5 months! Super cool deal, if you ask me. Or you can just take it back to Best Buy where the Geek Squad guy (who rules) will tell you that it is a piece of shit computer and to go exchange it for one from another company. So, I did. And I'm happy! Yay!

Nothing new else to report except I seem to be a grumbly old lady in that last paragraph. And boring. Whoo! What a bore. Oh, but life is better now that I have reached the blonde state again. No more brown for me. If I were ever up to brushing my hair, I would take and post a picture. One day! Hehe!

Okay, I am done for now because I am as boring as hell. Blah! I need to get out more and get more sleep. That way, I will have something to write about and do it in a positive manner. Until then, Scrooge out!

Oh, how I love being Jody's girlfriend!

Well, it has been a super fun few days! I didn't realize how much I would miss Jody before he left. Hell, I didn't realize it two weeks in. But, by the time he got home, I sure understood that I like the hell out of him, and I don't want him to go away for six weeks ever again! Of course, in his line of work, that just might happen. He will be gone for two weeks starting on Monday (we think). That isn't nearly as long. He will then come home, but go out again after a week or so. Ugh! But, he's got an incredibly cool and fulfilling job, so what can I say? It rules that he gets to do something he loves more than anything in the world. I wouldn't stop him from doing it ever. I signed on for it, and I am really happy that he is happy and has such a great thing to do. Jeez, I am a cheeseball. Luckily, though, I will get to see him when he plays in Houston! I plan on bringing my Houston peeps out to catch the show! Hurrah! I love having a cool boyfriend. Haha.

Well, he's been home, and we have had a pretty great time. We have done lots of girlfriend/boyfriend things. Movies, dinner, lunch, hanging out, hanging in, you know what, more you know what, and a bit more you know what. And that sure has been awesome! I took a few days off work to take some time to get reacquainted with him. I am at work tonight, though, because I figured someone who has been sitting shoulder to shoulder with 8 other people for six weeks might want a little time to themselves. Hopefully he is having a super fun evening alone. Probably so. It sucks when you don't have a moment alone. Nothing like running around naked and dancing and singing when you are alone. Yes, I do those things in front of Jody, and occasionally he does them in front of me. But, you can only get so down when you have an audience. Alone you can get down with your bad, naked self!

Nothing else has gone on much since I have been generally busy with boyfriend lovin'. Oh, I met the coolest baby ever! Anderson Atley Clark aka Anders aka Benjamin Buttons. I think I want to call him Floyd. I have no idea why, but I think he can Floyd the world up a bit. Anyway, he is super cool! And he is super sweet. And he has the longest little legs and biggest little hands! Now, I know that makes no sense, but it is true. He's adorable! See-->

He was just the sweetest little thing. Not a crier or anything. He made some great faces! We were so wondering what he was thinking. Probably how goony the grown ups in the room where acting. But, that's fine. We were acting goony! So, he is probably just smart!

Not to much else. I have school work to do. I have work work to do. I don't want to do anything at all! But, that's nothing new. Alrighty then. Enough of me!

I'm so excited!

In just a few short hours I will be picking up my fellow at the airport. He is in New York right now. We had a good long couple of hour convo when he got there! It was so good to talk to him and talk to him and talk to him! I am so excited!! And, we are getting a new dishwasher! Hehe. I am having a good week so far. Let's hope it sticks.

I sure is uninteresting this week

This blog has been a boring ass blog for a little bit now. I have just not been much in the blogging mood. Usually I want to talk and talk and talk and talk about myself. But, lately, I have just not been in the mood. So, I haven't really written much of anything. Bad for a writer. It's a hard habit to keep up with sometimes. But, I gotta do it. Actually, I like to do it. But, you know how sometimes you just tired of things you like. Well, that has happened in the last couple of weeks.

But, alas, tonight, I am in a writing mood. Sadly, I have nothing to write about. What the hell will I write about? There isn't even anything in the news worthy of speaking about. I could speak for hours about how happy I am to be getting my dear darling Jody back for a few days before he is out on the road again. The road is fucking hard. It's also really fucking tough. There's no question that it is rough, rough stuff. I am so thrilled I can barely stand it! I can't wait to curl up with him in bed. It's so weird to get used to sleeping alone. Ugh. I miss him spooning on me. Awwww, ain't that sweet?

I have recently become addicted to this stupid facebook game called Farm Town. Thanks so much for that, Mandy. At this very moment, I am flipping between tabs waiting for my corn to finish growing. It is at 99%, so we're close. This is so pathetic. It's like my severe addiction to the Sims (3 comes out June 2!! Woohoo!!). Of course, there are far fewer things to do which is good because I can't literally spend many many hours and days playing the Sims. It's stupid and pathetic. But, I know someone who has the same addiction. We Sims talk a lot. It's probably dumb. No, it is. But, we all have our addictions. At least it ain't the smack.

I am having a great fun allergy headache today. I hate that. I don't get headaches very often, thank goodness, but this one is a doozy. And I just keep sneezing. It's driving me bananas. And having to work with a headache is hard. Simply because I have a very very very very detail oriented job. So, you have to pay super attention to a lot of things. If I screw up something, I might screw up a whole hospital's staffing for the night. And that ain't good to do. But, this headache is actually bothering me. Ugh! I am probably also really tired. No, I am. I haven't slept well the last few of nights. I go through bouts of insomnia. Super fun. And working overnight 12-14 hour shifts, that ain't so good. But once my cuddly bumpkins gets back, all should be well sleep wise. Did you get that cuddle bumpkins thing? Haha. That's Jody. I a such a maroon.

What else is new or going on or happening or what have you? Nothing, just like in the first half of this blog post. Oh no, I bet you are thinking. We are only halfway through this post? Well, maybe not. That just depends on how much I can come up with here for the next few minutes. Okay, we are coming up with nothing.

I have watched some good movies lately. I highly recommend The Reader. And Slumdog Millionaire was so good. It was nothing like I thought it was going to be. Nothing at all. In fact, I didn't really want to see it. But, wow, I am glad I did. Damn good movie. The Reader, too. I cried the whole damn time. Of course, there was sex and boobs because Kate Winslet was in it. I wonder if they let her be in a movie without having to do that? Probably not. She's good at sex scenes. She should just go with it. I still think The Wrestler should have won best picture, though.

I am currently rewatching Degrassi High. I haven't watched it since it came on some 20 years ago or so. Oh, dear, I'm old. Anyway, it's pretty good. Just like I remember. They are covering all the hard teen issues like: abortion, pregnancy and giving birth, skin headedness, divorce, cheating, breakups, Pogues T-shirts, music videos, paralysis, making out with Wheels (isn't that a terrible name), making out with Clutch (an even worse name), making out with Spike (oh, the names just keep a rolling), the identical twins where one is actually ugly and the other is not (I know that sounds weird, but it's true), the huge hair, the Canadian accents...oh, and I am only on the first DVD! It's amazing!

Okay, enough of me for now.

A Quickie (and boy do I need one)

Got a new computer. It's pretty cool for a cheap one. I still haven't read for my new class. Super fun, already behind. Jody comes home in two days. I am so excited I can barely stand it. Of course, I am so tired excitement means just sitting still. I'm chicken and ferret sitting this weekend. I love those animals. I can't wait for Monday because I am just going to sleep and sleep.

Life ain't so bad for someone so damn tired.

Oh, she is over!

So, I had a good yesterday. It was the last day of the semester! Now, I am free until...tomorrow. Yep, just until tomorrow. But, who cares! I am done! I had a great last class and went on a good drunk with some classmates. You know the difference between grad school and undergrad? You spend the last night of class shutting down a bar! I didn't get super drunk, but I was lucky enough to wake up with a headache. Oh, aging is so much fun. I remember when a night of drinking meant waking up happy and raring to go in the morning. I am now either a puss or just old. I am going with old. It seems cooler than puss.

In other news, my Kathie is having a baby right this very moment. Well, she's in the hospital where she has been since very early this morning. She's on facebook still, so I am guessing her Anders is still hanging out in her lady regions. I am so excited for her, although, this does mess up our weekly lunch date. Damn, that child! Haha! I am really excited to meet him, though. And she was so ready to be unpregnant. So, I am happy for them! Yay, Kathie and Jakob!

Jody comes back in a week! Holy shit, I am so excited! I can't wait to see his face. I miss his face. And his voice. I haven't actually heard it in a month now. It sucksssssss! Luckily, his people post pictures on facebook.

My pick won Celebrity Apprentice, so I was pretty happy about that. Well, I wanted Jesse James to win, but the winner will do. I like her! I won't type it just in case someone hasn't seen it. Man, I am such a loser. I am blogging about Celebrity Apprentice. Good lord!

What else is going on? Not much. I am still computerless. I hate to see what my phone bill is going to be like because I keep checking my email on it. And, I don't subscribe to the plan. I am hoping it isn't like $300. My luck it will be. But, it happens when you are addicted to gmail. Damn, you gmail!

What else, what else, what else? Nothing. My dishwasher isn't actually broken! That's good. Bad thing is that it is the electricity in that wall. Boo. Did I tell everyone the dishwasher was broken? Well, it isn't.

This is rather boring. So, I am ending it. I am just so happy to have a day free of anything school that I can barely stand it! I will be at it again in a day or two. Super fun. But, for now, I am free!

My semester is almost over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have finished all my work for this semester. On Monday, I will be done with the semester! Holy shit! Now, if I can just make it to August 17 I will be really super happy! Then I am done, done, done. Screw the PhD. I am happy just to be done with grad school. Holy Highway Girl's Home! I am almost done with grad school. Isn't that frightening? It fucking rules! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

What a great day it is!

What in Kharmic hell have I done?

My dog threw out his back. Both computers in my household died today within a matter of minutes of each other. My box spring has decided it wants to have springs stab out the side. And I might have sprained my ankle by walking and stepping weird and doing that turny ankle thing. You know the one where your foot just goes to the side. Ugh!

Oh yeah, today is a suck fest! And I don't think I screwed anyone over. But, maybe I did. I try to be decent in traffic and everything. Oh, what has happened? Tomorrow better be better!
